On 6 November 2018, AEPO-ARTIS released the preliminary version of its study “Performers’ Rights in International and European Legislation: Situation and Elements for Improvement, October 2018”.

The study draws upon data received from 34 collective management organisations from 26 countries.

Among its findings, the study reveals that the economic situation of performers has barely changed after the introduction of the exclusive making available right in the acquis communautaire. In 2005, collections in respect of on demand services were effectively zero and by 2017, the amount collected still only amounted to less than 2% of total collections.
